I love how he just reaches in like, "Pff! This couldn't possible be dangerous in any way!"
You forget the most important physical/magic law of the story's universe: whatever it is, whatever is needed, the protagonist in question always has the perfect skill or disposition that's required 😉
Can't say it's out of character, that's for sure.
